Tamai Steamship has slashed its first quarter loss and has improved its outlook for the full fiscal year.

The Japanese owner said its net deficit to 30 June was JPY 203m ($1.83m), against a loss of JPY 822m a year ago.

Revenue was up to JPY 963m from JPY 644m over the same period.

Tamai is now expecting a full year result close to breakeven levels.
