China Merchants Heavy Industry Jiangsu (CMHI-Jiangsu) is the latest Chinese shipyard to enter the large LNG sector, with orders for up to eight 180,000-cbm newbuildings worth $1.88bn.
According to shipbuilding sources, CMHI-Jiangsu — a subsidiary of China Merchants Industry Holdings, also known as CMHI-Haimen — was contracted by Celsius Tankers to construct four firm LNG carriers that will be built with GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane-type containment system.
