Nakilat, the shipping company for the world’s largest LNG producer Qatargas, said its first quarter profit rose 8% thanks to its profit share in the joint venture with the John Angelicoussis-controlled Maran Gas.

The QSE-listed company reported profit of QAR 240m ($65.9m) for the quarter, compared to year earlier profit of QAR 223m. Revenue from wholly owned vessels rose 2% to QAR 759m from a year earlier, but the share of profit from joint ventures rose 15% to QAR 106m

The 11-year-old venture, Maran Nakilat, jointly owns 13 LNG carriers.

Nakilat
