Nauticor chief executive Mahinde Abeynaike expects the market share of LNG-fuelled newbuildings will “grow significantly”.
But he added: “The key question is more, when will the newbuilding market ramp up again?”
Abeynaike believes most companies looking at newbuilding projects will consider the LNG-fuelling option.
He pointed to the moves already made by containership owners CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd on this.
