An ice-breaking LNG carrier owned by Sovcomflot (SCF Group) has recorded the fastest recorded crossing of the Northern Sea Route (NSR).
Sovcomflot said its 172,600-cbm Arc7 vessel Christophe de Margerie (built 2017) set a new record time for a merchant ship moving without icebreaker support during the month of July.
It covered the 2,360 nautical miles eastward from Sabetta on the Yamal Peninsula to Cape Dezhnev in the Bering Strait in seven days and 17 hours.
