Hafnia argues Scorpio tankers were a bargain compared with MR prices

Singapore’s Hafnia has made its case for a huge outlay on the Scorpio Tankers LR1 fleet.

The BW controlled-company paid just shy of $414m for the fleet of 12 ships built mainly in 2016, or an average of $34.4m each.

Clarksons Platou has said the deal showed a rising of LR1 prices towards levels last seen in 2016.

Ships of this age were previously assessed at between $30m and $32m by valuation platform VesselsValue.
