War risk underwriters will face the primary exposure to the losses related to the terrorist attacks on two tankers off Fujairah.

The region was added to the high risk areas by the Joint War Committee following previous attacks last month.

Following the attacks on the 110,000-dwt Front Altair (built 2016) and 27,000-dwt Kokuka Courageous (built 2010), experts said the main losses for insurers will come from salvage response and damage to the tankers which will both be met through war risk cover.
