Sefine Shipyard has come a long way since it was launched as a greenfield project in Turkey in 2005.

The start-up has since gained a firm foothold in the country’s shipbuilding terrain, helped by orders for ferries, live fish carriers and other types of vessels from Norway, Estonia and Italy.

Turkish yards have traditionally been geared towards the construction of smaller, chemical tankers, which left them vulnerable to both the global financial crash and shipping crisis of 2008.
