Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC), the Middle East's only specialised maritime arbitration centre, is shutting shop.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates' prime minister, has issued a decree ordering that EMAC be dissolved and its operations and assets merged into the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC).

The specialist maritime disputes which EMAC was servicing will now be dealt with by the larger arbitration body.
