Work has begun in Malaysia to convert a former AET Tankers aframax into an FSO for work off the cost of Thailand.

The 105,400-dwt Bunga Kelana 5 (built 1999) is being converted into the FSO Benchamas 2 at the Pasir Gudang-based yard of Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings (MMHE).

“Bunga Kelana 5 was identified as the most suitable vessel to be converted into an FSO due to her features that allow for technical upgrades and integrations to fit the weather conditions of the Benchamas field in the Gulf of Thailand,” said MISC.
