The memory of Captain Panagiotis’s daughter was honoured in Chios this month when the boarding school named after her was inaugurated.
Situated in the village of Kardamyla in Chios — the birthplace of many of the most lustrous names in Greek shipping — Maria’s House was established to support children of families facing economic difficulties.
The school building was Maria’s house and is located within a six-acre area.
