Shipbroker Toepfer Transport is diversifying into a niche area where it considers German players hold the cards — the multipurpose (MPP) sector.
The German broker will begin research activities in the MPP/heavylift sector where the larger overseas broking and research houses have less access to the market.
It plans to establish a MPP shipping index (see sidebar) as well as focus on the market for around 1,000 MPP vessels with a lifting capacity of over 100 tons.
