Pyxis Tankers has shelled out $20m in cash and debt for a secondhand MR tanker.

The New York-listed, Greece-based shipowner announced the deal on Thursday.

The outfit did not name the ship, but described it as a 48,000-dwt tanker built in 2013 at South Korea's Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and owned by an unaffiliated third party.

"It is anticipated that the acquisition, which is subject to customary closing conditions, will be completed during the summer of 2021," the company said.
