Senior Greek policymakers plan to launch a bond exchange to alleviate financing constraints facing the country’s oceangoing companies.

Shipping minister Panagiotis Kouroublis held a meeting of government officials, bankers and bourse authorities in his office last week to discuss the idea.

“Views converged in favour of the minister’s proposal to issue corporate shipping bonds on the Athens Stock Exchange [ASE],” the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy said.
