Product tanker owner American Shipping Company (AMSC) has been tipped to bag a big rate for its last charter-free ship in a tightening US Jones Act market.

The Oslo-listed owner’s bareboat deal for the 47,000-dwt Overseas New York (built 2008) is not being renewed by US operator Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) in December.

Norwegian investment bank Fearnley Securities said all US Jones Act tankers are now out of lay-up and employed on time charters.
