In Chinese, president Xi Jinping’s $900bn investment project in seaports, railways and other transport infrastructure along routes from eastern China to the Mediterranean is still called “Yi Dai, Yi Lu”, and there’s no change there.
But somebody apparently clued his propaganda bureaucrats in to the fact that the translation “One Belt, One Road” (OBOR) sounds funny in English. It vaguely suggests the name of some weird cult (think of a martial arts secret society or perhaps a mind-control dieting cult that tells members there is only one road to wearing that belt).
