Euronav believes it is encouraging for earnings that crude tankers have not increased their speeds despite the lucrative spot rates on offer.
The Belgium shipowner said transit times are being kept in check, holding down vessel supply levels.
It cited figures from UK shipbroker Clarksons showing no change in average speeds for VLCCs and suezmaxes in the first quarter compared with the final three months of 2022.
