South Korea’s DH Shipbuilding has bagged an order for an LR2 tanker newbuilding — this time not from a Greek buyer.

The Haenam-based shipbuilder, which is currently building 23 aframax and suezmax tankers mainly for Greek shipping companies, has struck a deal with MJL Bangladesh for one LNG-ready aframax product carrier.

One shipbuilding source familiar with DH Shipbuilding said the single order for the LR2 newbuilding marked a “new chapter” for the Haenam-based shipyard.
