International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI) has signed an agreement to expand Iraq container port Basra Gateway Terminal (BGT).
Two new berths will be developed including a 20 hectare yard area, which will double the annual capacity of the Umm Qasr facility to 1.2mteu.
ICTSI said the berths will be configured and equipped with quay and landside container handling systems sufficient to handle ships of up to 10,000-teu.
