Norway's Odfjell has reached an initial deal to take four new chemical tanker newbuildings on charter from Sinochem Shipping.
It will bareboat the 40,900-dwt vessels from the Chinese company's Singapore unit over the long term, it said.
The ships are part of a series of eight on order at Hantong Wing Shipyard in China. All of these will form a new pool of "sophisticated" tankers, Odfjell added.
