Germany’s Briese Schiffahrt has acquired a pair of project carrier newbuildings under construction in China that were originally ordered by Zeaborn.

The Leer-based owner has taken over an order for two 12,500-dwt vessels, said to be costing around $18.5m each. They were part of a series of six vessels ordered in 2014 at Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering Co by Bremen’s Zeaborn, which cancelled the contracts because of delay.
