Norwegian authorities have made the first arrest of a vessel for illegal export of hazardous waste.
The Norwegian Environment Agency has detained the 38,282-gt Tide Carrier (built 1989), laid up on the Norwegian coast for many years and believed to be bound for scrapping to a South Asian beaching facility.
NGO Shipbreaking Platform said the vessel attempted to leave Norway under a new name and flag in February.
