Russian energy company Novatek has taken a final investment decision on its $21.3bn Arctic LNG 2 liquefaction project, which will need a raft of ice-breaking LNG carriers.
Green-lighting the 19.8 million tonnes per annum project at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Novatek said the first of the project's 6.6 mtpa three trains will launch in 2023. Train two will start up the following year with the third to be brought onstream in 2026.
