One of shipping’s most influential equity analysts has returned to coverage of the sector, but under his own shingle this time.

Veteran researcher Michael Webber is back and so is his trademark “corporate governance scorecard,” which examines the management practices of shipowners.

And as Webber promised before he “hopped off the stagecoach” — allusion to the logo of former employer Wells Fargo Securities — in August, the new ratings will for the first time take into account shipowners’ reporting of carbon emissions from their vessels.
