Aristides Alafouzos-controlled Kyklades Maritime is lining up a deal for up to seven aframax newbuildings at orders-starved Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
The contract, which would be the first for the South Korean shipbuilder in 18 months, could be worth $280m.
Shipbuilding market sources say the deal under negotiation involves five firm tankers with options for two more. Deliveries are scheduled from the end of 2018 to mid-2019.
