Russian state nuclear energy agency Rosatom is planing to begin large transhipments between northern Europe and eastern Asia via the Northern Sea Route (NSR) in 2027.

This is according to files released on its website, according to the Itar-Tass news agency.

The new comes after it was reported the agency is drawing up controversial $7bn plans to rival boxship giant Maersk by setting up its own fleet of boxships for transport in the environmentally sensitive Arctic region.
