Shipping companies could be forced to pull out of Myanmar after its military launched a coup on Monday.

Civilian politicians, including Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the ruling National League for Democracy, were detained in pre-dawn raids.

The country has been placed under a year-long state of emergency, which could usher in a return to the punitive international sanctions it languished under until the military agreed to relinquish full control and share power with a democratically elected government in 2015.
