Higher than usual ocean temperatures off Canada meant a spot of slow-steaming for a coast guard research ship.
The 1,200-gt icebreaker Hudson (built 1963) had to cut its speed after being unable to use seawater to cool its engines off Nova Scotia.
CBC reported that the vessel was sailing through waters that measured between 20 and 24 degrees centigrade, five or six degrees higher than normal for October.
