Kjell Inge Rokke’s attempt to weld Rem Offshore with rival Solstad Offshore could provide a template for consolidators in a sector where merger and acquisition activity is historically tricky.
Rokke’s Aker bought into Rem’s bonds in May and June and this week red-flagged a restructuring effort in favour of resurrecting a merger plan that was the talk of the market almost a decade ago.
