Seacor Marine says it will have the first class-certified offshore support vessel (OSV) that will operate using hybrid power.

The New York-listed company says ABS will provide class certification on the the new hybrid, which is expected to hit the water May 2018.

The 5,116-dwt Seacor Maya (built 2015) will be outfitted with new lithium-ion battery technology, which Seacor says will reduce fuel use by 20%, according to Seacor.
