Singapore’s offshore industry looks to have received little support from Monday’s budget, according to analysts.
The Lion Republic’s Finance Minister, Heng Swee Keat, did opt to defer the foreign worker levy hike for another year.
Levies for R1/R2 workers in the offshore marine sector will remain at SGD300 ($210) and SGD 400 per month for 2017.
“A levy hike to SGD 350 and SGD 500 per month was due in 1 July 17, but this has been delayed to 30 June 2018,” said UOB Kay Hian.
