Norway’s Wilhelmsen group continues to explore a return to the offshore market at a time when growth remains on the agenda and despite a $400m swoop for Drew Marine Technical Solutions this spring.

Wilhelmsen began looking at the sector last year after forming an alliance with Norwegian investment company Ferd.

Since then, the offshore space has continued to consolidate, with the notable merger of Farstad Shipping, Solstad Offshore and Deep Sea Supply, while investors including Tor Olav Troim and Oystein Stray Spetalen have been picking up assets.
