An appeal by Fred Olsen Cruise Lines against a judgment that it was responsible for the outbreak of norovirus on four cruises in 2011 has been dismissed by the UK Court of Appeal.

Lord Justice Gross, Lord Justice Christopher Clarke and Master of the Rolls Lord Dyson  over-ruled four objections brought by Olsen against a ruling in the Birmingham County Court that the Norwegian cruise line had failed to take reasonable steps to manage the risk of norovirus that contributed to the illness of 16 passengers.
