Cypriot judges have cleared NewLead Holdings boss Michael Zolotas from the charge of acting as a go-between in the alleged bribing of a central banker 14 years ago.

That removes the threat of a prison sentence of up to five years that hung over Zolotas’ head since Greek authorities arrested and extradited him to Cyprus back in December 2016.

It was irregularities in his extradition that are now getting the 46-year-old owner off the hook.
