The Paris MOU has banned two Turkish-owned cargoships from its ports after they failed multiple port state control checks.

It said the 13,300-dwt general cargoship Hak (built 1983) was held in Constanta, Romania, for a week last month with 13 deficiencies.

This was its third detention in three years and resulted in a three-month ban.

The ship flies the flag of Palau which is black on the current Paris MOU list.

Grounds for detention included corroded covers, including hatchways, and cracked freeing ports.

The rest period for crew was also not as required, there was a lack of training in fire drills and a lack of familiarity with bridge operations.

The vessel is listed as operated by Ocean Eagle Shipping & Trading of Istanbul.

Meanwhile, the 2,000-dwt Comoros-flagged cargo vessel Reggae (built 1985) was held in Chioggia, Italy, at the start of last month.

The ship was detained for 14 days with eight deficiencies.

Again, there was a lack of training for fire drills, and enclosed space entry and rescue drills were not carried out.

Bridge visibility was also not as required for navigation.

This was also Reggae's third detention in three months. It was barred from Paris MOU ports for three months.

It is listed as operated by Voda Denizcilik of Istanbul.
