A general cargoship has gone adrift in Greek waters earlier this morning.

The 4,400-dwt Moon Step (built 1997) lost its steering off Andros island, in the Aegean Sea, under unclear circumstances.

Vernicos Tugs & Salvage is deploying two tugs to the scene to assist the vessel.

According to equasis.org, Moon Step was detained for 38 days in Piraeus last January.

Thirteen deficiencies were found on the vessel, including invalid seafarers' employment agreements, violation of the maritime labour convention (MLC) and missing documentation.
