Algoma Central said it has firmed up an order for two self-unloading bulkers at China’s Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.
The order for 29,400-dwt vessels was signed earlier but not firmed up until Monday when the Canadian shipowner received refund guarantees from the yard.
TradeWinds reported earlier this month that Algoma had ordered the duo in addition to three other self-unloaders booked at Croatia’s Uljanik Group to replace four ships cancelled after China’s Nantong Mingde Heavy Industry went into bankruptcy.
