A Petrobras-led consortium has been granted permission to source a platform hull from outside Brazil.
Oil regulator ANP said the group, which is exploring the Libra area, can also buy some systems from overseas, according to Reuters.
The decision was a response to a request from a waiver made earlier this year.
The Libra pre-salt area is among the largest discoveries in Brazil.
