Rebel forces branded “terrorists” and “pirates” have hijacked a products tanker owned by Libya’s GNMTC.



Contact has been lost with the 34,700-dwt Anwaar Afriqya which has 22 crew and was en route to the volatile country from Greece.



Tripoli-based owner GNMTC said the 2004-built tanker had been “subject to an armed piracy by a group of terrorists believed to be linked to terrorists group currently based in eastern part of Libya”.

The Anwaar Afriqya is now in rebel hands.
