The key Belgian port of Antwerp has recorded a 2.7% annual rise in cargo volumes.

The port authority said it handled 214.05m tonnes of freight last year.

Containership business prospered, with cargoes increasing 4.1% to 117.9 tonnes.

In teu terms, this was 10.03m teu, breaking the 10m teu barrier for the first time.

But conventional breakbulk volumes dropped 2% and dry bulk was down 9.1%
