Scorpio Tankers said last week it was selling the Onomichi-built 74,000-dwt STI Heritage (built 2008) and STI Harmony (built 2007) to an undisclosed buyer.
Sources say the Ice class 1A tankers fetched some $61m to $62m in total.
Brokers are reporting that BW is the buyer, but that is flatly denied by shipowner Andreas Sohmen-Pao who tells TradeWinds "it is not us".
