Gibsons has revealed a steep rise in the average bids by tanker owners for transit slots at the drought-hit Panama Canal in 2023.
And even though the price of winning bids has dropped so far this year, they remain double what was seen earlier last year, the London shop’s data shows.
The canal authority ACP has been implementing crossing limitations for most of the past and current year, significantly affecting traffic and transit times.
