Police said Madan Anandrao Pawar and Suresh Anandrao Pawar were held in Pune on Tuesday night.

They appeared in court on Wednesday and were remanded into custody for 15 days.

Six men died after abandoning the company’s 28,700–dwt tanker (built 1981) when it grounded off India on 31 October last year.

In February, the parents of a drowned crewman hanged themselves at their home in Chennai.

They left behind a suicide note blaming the government and a shipping agency for negligence and inaction.
