Connecticut-based information technology provider Q88 has been acquired by shipping software firm Veson Nautical in what is being hailed as a “perfect complement” of expertise in the maritime sector.

Pricing of the transaction was not disclosed in a joint statement issued by the two companies today.

Rumours of a Q88 sale had been circulating as employees in the company’s Westport, Connecticut office reportedly were told the news last week.

Humble beginnings

Q88 was founded in 2001 by Fritz Heidenreich at a time he was working for his father, Per, as an employee of the former Heidenreich Marine (Heidmar) pooling operation.
