Indian tanker and gas shipowner Sanmar Shipping opened a new subsidiary in Singapore on Tuesday that it hopes will help foster the company’s ongoing expansion.

Vijay Sankar, chairman of the Sanmar Group, said: “Our aim is to grow to 20 ships in the next few years and Singapore is going to be a very important part of that.”

Sanmar Shipping currently operates a fleet of 12 vessels, 10 of which are LR1/LR2s and MR2 product tankers, as well as two LPG carriers.
