US authorities have stopped a tanker with a Russian-sourced cargo, in a signal that President Joe Biden is enforcing the oil embargo following the invasion of Ukraine, according to a media report.
The 115,700-dwt Daytona (built 2011), part of TMS Tankers’ fleet, was stopped after arriving in Louisiana from Russia, according to The Wall Street Journal.
AIS tracking showed the ship was anchored at New Orleans on Wednesday while reportedly undergoing checks by Customs & Border Protection.
