French seismic giant CGG and Oslo-listed Spectrum, the pure-play multi-client (MC) company, say they have started their high-end three-dimensional (3D) MC survey off Brazil this week.

Because MC surveys are in essence speculative projects that geophysical players sell to exploration companies, the project can reveal industry sentiment over the potential for any given area.

CGG and Spectrum are equal partners on this project to acquire 11,330 square kilometres of 3D data in the Foz do Amazonas basin, an area which the two say has attracted “high pre-funding from a number of major industry players”.
