Turkey’s Ciner Shipping Industry & Trading will reassess future dealings with South Korean companies if politicians and lenders refuse to resolve the “mess” left by efforts to restructure Hanjin Shipping, says chief executive Vasileios Papakalodoukas.
In a statement aimed at pressuring the Korean authorities, the Istanbul-based owner urges government and lenders to provide liquidity to prevent shipowners from suffering further losses — even if Hanjin cannot be saved — in recognition of the huge contribution that shipowners have made to the Korean economy.
