Scrapping of containerships is approaching its lowest level for nearly two years, and it is likely to slip further after regulatory changes on ballast water treatment systems, analysts believe.

Just seven containerships were sold for scrap in June, the lowest monthly level since October 2015, Clarksons Platou estimates. It says that is less than half the monthly average for the first six months of 2017, when 93 ships of 280,000 teu were sent to the beaches.
