Belgian containership owner Delphis is ready to splash out more than $200m on feederships.
Industry sources say Delphis has signed a letter of intent (LOI) for 10 newbuildings at South Korea’s Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction (HHIC). The deal involves five firm vessels of 1,900 teu, plus five options.
A shipyard official declines to comment.
Sources say the proposed newbuildings are high-specification and will cost the company more than $20m each.
